- CyberSpyder Link Test Version 1.0
- Read Me File
-
- One of the problems for anyone running a WWW site, is ensuring that
- all of the links on the site are operational. In spite of being very
- careful in setting them up, almost every site has some æbrokenÆ ones.
-
- CyberSpyder Link Test is a WebMasterÆs friend as it will check all
- of the links on a site and report on any that no longer work!
-
- The æWebMasterÆ may be responsible for all of the links in an server
- installation, or may be an individual or company with a large number
- of links under their home page. CyberSpyder Link Test may be used
- to handle either or both situations.
-
- This software is purposely supplied without a setup or install program.
- This version of the program was written using VB 3.0. Since users
- may have either VB 4.0 or VB 3.0 installed and may be running
- Windows 3.1x, Windows 95, or a version of Windows NT, it was felt
- that it was safer to just supply the necessary modules and let the
- user manually handle the installation.
-
- To install this program, create an appropriate directory (e.g. LNKCHEK)
- and unzip the files into it. The files included in the zip file are:
-
- install.txt This file - can be deleted if desired
- lnkchek.exe The main executable
- lnkchek.hlp The help file for the program
- cmdialog.vbx VB 3.0 vbx used by the program
- threed.vbx VB 3.0 vbx used by the program
- ipport.vbx communications VBX used by the program
- ipport.lic license file for ipport.vbx
- ipport.hlp Help file for ipport.vbx
- vbrun300.dll VB 3.0 dll required to run webfix
- commdlg.dll dll required by VB 3.0
-
- lnkchek.exe, lnkchek.hlp, ipport.vbx and ipport.lic should be left in
- the program directory.
-
- ipport.hlp is the Windows help file for ipport.vbx. If you wish to
- use this control for your own projects, you should keep this file,
- otherwise it may be deleted. (See CyberSpyder Link Check Help -
- Copyright and Tradmark Notice section for more details.)
-
- If you have VB 3.0 Professional installed on your system, or you have
- installed other programs written in VB 3.0, then you may already have
- cmdialog.vbx, threed.vbx, vbrun300.dll and commdlg.dll in your
- windows\system directory. You should check, and if you have them,
- these can be deleted. If you do not have them, then copy vbrun300.dll
- and commdlg.dll to your windows\system directory - cmdialog.vbx and
- threed.vbx can also be copied there or can be left in the program
- directory.
-
- lnkchek.exe is the the main executable file. Add it to an appropriate
- program group (or Start menu item in Windows 95).
-
- The program requires windows sockets - if you run a browser such
- as Netscape from the PC, then you can run this program.
-
- View the help file for additional information on using the program.
- Note that the reports produced by the program are produced as HTML
- documents. A sub-directory, 'reports', is created under the directory
- from which 'lnkchek.exe' is run and the report files are written to
- that directory.
-
- CyberSpyder Link Test is distributed as shareware. It may be
- freely redistributed as long as all of the original files in this
